The wife of the Governor of Delta State and founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Her Excellency, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, on Saturday, October 19, 2025, led the maiden edition of the “You Matter Walk for Life”. A fitness initiative by the foundation aimed at promoting healthy living and community connection across the state.
The walk held in Asaba, kicked off from the Inter-Bau Roundabout and stretched through Anwai-Illah Road to the First Lady’s office at the New Government House, Asaba. It was marked by intervals of prayer, praise, and spirited camaraderie. Participants, dressed in sporty attire, radiated energy and enthusiasm as they marched toward the collective goal of 10,000 steps, symbolizing shared progress and transformation.
Addressing the participants largely made of women, Her Excellency expressed delight at the turnout, describing the event as a “beautiful demonstration of our collective commitment to one another.” Quoting 1 Timothy 4:8, she emphasized the importance of combining physical activity with spiritual devotion, noting that “when we walk in unity and with prayer, we set ourselves on the path of total transformation.”
She encouraged the women to embrace healthy lifestyles, shed unnecessary weight, and remain active, stating that “a healthy body gives us the strength, clarity, and confidence to pursue our goals and fulfill our divine purpose.”
Deaconess Oborevwori assured attendees that the You Matter Walk for Life is not a one-time event, promising an even bigger edition in the near future. She extended heartfelt thanks to the Road Safety Officials, fitness coach, and chaplain for their dedication and support throughout the walk.
The event also featured words of exhortation from Venerable Charles Osemene, Chaplain of the Government House Chapel, who urged participants to remain humble and diligent in their service to humanity.
In her remarks, Mrs. Timiebi Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, led the appreciation on behalf of the women, praising Her Excellency’s motherly care and unwavering support for women across the state. She prayed for continued strength and health for the First Lady as she carries on her charitable mission.
The event concluded with smiles, laughter, and a renewed sense of purpose, affirming the Foundation’s belief that everybody is somebody, and that wellness is a shared journey.
